3/16 - 26/23 - Jacksonville, FL to Hilton Head Island, SC (Jekyll Island & Savannah)

Thurs, 3/16 - Jacksonville Free Dock to Cumberland Anchorage (25.8nm) .  It dropped to low 40's overnight.  I had to pull out the big blankets for the first time since October.  Maybe we started our northern passage a few weeks too early? Somewhere along the way, someone mentioned that the East Coast part of the Loop is great, and we assured us that we were going to love it!  WELL, so far so good.  Ever since we emerged from Lake Okeechobee, it has been endless sightseeing! Continuing our journey north on the Atlantic ICW with the Atlantic Ocean ever-present on our starboard. AT 12:30 PM EDT, we finally crossed the Florida/Georgia Border! We had been in Florida since November 12, 2022! Combining our Keys trip in 2021 to this trip - we have navigated the entire 825 miles of Florida coastline (+Keys) panhandle to peninsula hugged by the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean.  Every inch has been a treasure. Around 1:30pm all of the Loopers from the Jacksonville City dock dropped their an

Sunday, 3/5/23 - St. Augustine to Sisters Creek (Mayport, FL) (36.8nm) Once again, we got a later start than intended.  We neglected to take note of the office hours at Rivers Edge Marina, so we weren't able to retrieve the package that was delivered on Saturday afternoon until we finally found the weekend guy to open the office. We had seen Marc & Lorrie on KARL; and met Devin & Dolly on Leave It To Wally (33' Albin) on the dock at Rivers Edge, but we all had different agendas - again, there was lots to do and see in St. Augustine! We were all heading in the same direction on Sunday morning - KARL & Wally got an early start, and we finally got going around 9:45, for our northern passage to Jacksonville. Departing the marina via the San Sabastian River, we took note of the Bridge of Lions and the seaside view of the Castillo de San Marcos fort. Along the ICW, Matanzas & Tolomato Rivers, we noticed the landscape changing a bit, leafy trees draped in Spanish moss

2/22 - 3/4/23 - Ft. Pierce to St. Augustine

Wed, 2/22/23 - Ft. Pierce to Melbourne (Eau Gaille Yacht Basin) (51.8 nm) .  Early rise for another gorgeous day of cruising the ICW.  Sooo many dolphins, and beautiful birds - life is good. Around 2:00 p.m. we pulled into Eau Gaille Yacht Basin and were greeted by 3 people on the dock. Still not sure if they were slip holders or employees, but it was the first indicator of a GREAT stay! I could probably do an entire post on how great Eau Gaille Yacht Basin was - highlights: $1.50/foot transient dock fee includes water, electric and pump out - what a bargain! Conveniently located on the west side of the ICW on the Eau Gaille River, Melbourne. We arrived on a Wednesday - Every Wednesday is Potluck night at EGYB.  Trays of stuffed cabbage, hot wings, homemade pies, decadent desserts, etc. All prepared and shared by the lovely, friendly people. The property is old, but well-cared for.  The shower and laundry rooms were very nice. A short walk to a cute town / art district Cool Intracoasta
