Thurs, 5/11/23 - Great Kills, Staten Island, NY to Croton-On-Hudson, NY (45.5nm).   This was a BIG day in Looper Fandom - the day we cruise past the iconic Statue of Liberty!! Port-A-Gee & Kayak hated to leave the exceptional hospitality of GKYC, but we got places to go and things to see! We crossed under the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, and past Fort Wadsworth, and the New York Skyline was quite literally on our Bow. New York Harbor - We had been warned that this is a very busy harbor, but on this Thursday morning, it was pretty quiet, save for tour boats and the Ferry. We made our way to the Statue of Liberty and took lots of pictures!  It was soooo cool, our chests were full of patriotism! Moon Dance IV took a couple of days enjoying the NJ ICW and when they arrived in NY they elected to go to Liberty Landing in downtown Manhattan.  But we all caught up and spent the rest of the gorgeous day on the Hudson River. We will navigate approximately half of the 315-mile Hudson River unti

5/6 - 5/10/23 Delaware City, DE to Great Kills, Staten Island, NY

Sat., 5/6/23 - Delaware City, DE to Cape May, NJ / Utsch's Marina (59.4nm).  Our 3 buddy boats agreed on a 7:30 a.m. departure, with the assurance that we will have a great wind-free day to navigate Delaware Bay. As we learned from the Gulf of Mexico, no wind = fog!  The Coast Guard shut down the C&D Canal, but Delaware Bay was clear to go. Foggy Delaware Bay Moon Dance IV went out first and reported back to Port-A-Gee & Kayak. It turned out that the fog cleared just ahead of us, so we had good visibility. Delaware Bay is more of a commercial waterway for huge freighters, so we had to share the channel with the big boys. Also, some really cool lighthouses. As promised, we had a perfect day on the Delaware Bay! We crossed into New Jersey! Making our turn into the Cape May inlet, we encountered the Ferry on its way across.  We got a 5 whistle blow from the Captain - Get the hell out of my way! - LOL When we were docking in Delaware City, Port-A-Gee's shifter stuck in reve

4/23 - 5/5/23 - Norfolk , VA to Delaware City, DE (CHESAPEAKE BAY)

Sun, 4/23/23 - Norfolk, VA to Yorktown, VA - Riverwalk Marina (35.4nm) .  Port-A-Gee & Kayak coordinated a 9:00 a.m. departure, with the hope that the forecasted calm seas on the Chesapeake were correct.  We headed out to the Elizabeth River for 15 miles until it met Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake is a huge body of water - 200 miles long.  It took us over a week to navigate (with weather delay). The widest point is at the junction with the Potomac River at 30 miles across. The Norfolk news was excited to report the return of the USS George HW Bush's return after an 8-month deployment.  We caught a couple shots of what I suspect was some kind of return ceremony.  Love all those sailors in their dress whites. We also spotted the USNS Comfort, which received a lot of attention during the Covid shutdown. Our course crossed through a sailboat regatta or race - they were so pretty! Around 3:00 p.m., we arrived at Riverwalk Marina, Yorktown, VA.  The first thing we noticed was the 3/4
